WHAT: A one or two day, creative workshop aimed at encouraging, equipping, challenging, and growing worship teams of all styles and sizes. If desired, this can include a portion of the workshop being focused on songwriting - how local church-made music can integrate into a worship ministry. Part of the songwriting focus of the workshop includes listening and giving feedback on songs written by members of the worship team, and teaching on how we can all grow and write better songs, together.
WHY: We have a high and weighty calling as “lead worshippers” to help our congregations sing a new song to the Lord, week in and week out. Yet - most church worship leaders and worship teams, regardless of congregation size, are under-served when it comes to both feedback and development of their worship teams from an educated, but outside, perspective. The reality is, often times as leaders and as creative people, we get “tunnel vision.” We create ways of thinking and doing that feel good and effective…yet often, we forget to ask “WHY do we do this//is this the BEST way to do this,” and outside perspective can be incredibly valuable here.
In the same way that the Lord is sanctifying us over time and slowly turning us into the people he made us to be, the same process should be happening with our worship endeavours - whether that be song selection, song creation, band arrangements, stage setup, sound, and even overall worship philosophy.
